Another year is about to close on us again and we look forward to what 2020 brings with it. 2019 was a great year for the club as we hit many records with rounds and a great financial year putting the club in a very healthy position going into 2020. We hope 2020 brings with it some much needed rain, stable electricity and great golf for all.
The weather has started to play along as well making sure those down on holiday are able to enjoy our lovely village at its best. It is great to see familiar faces back at the club and we welcome you all here over the festive season. The tee sheets are fulling up quickly so please remember to phone in and book as we don’t want to disappoint you if you just arrive and we are unable to accommodate you for a game at that time, please remember to book carts as well.
Over the course of 2019 we have collected the medal round scores from Club Championships and monthly medal games. We then determined how many over par each hole played and using the International Handicap System guidelines we are able to re-stroke the course. A few of the holes are very similar to how the old strokes used to be. The new strokes are as follows.
The new score cards have arrived with the updated strokes and these will be implemented from Monday 23rd December 2019.

A reminder that should any members have nominations for committee positions into the new year these need to be handed to our club manager- Justin Roux ASAP.
From the Captain – December 2019
“Time and tide waits for no man”…. 2019 has come and gone and left us all another year older but thankfully it has been a very good year for our club and our members. I, personally, have thoroughly enjoyed serving the club, the committee and the membership and I would like to thank all for their wonderful support during the course of the year. We enjoyed relatively good results in our various league campaigns and we also offered e few different formats to our members on club competition days which generally seem to have been well received. On course our rounds were nicely up on previous year which translated into good financial results, supplemented by an excellent Calamari Classic event. Heaps of praise must be allocated to Gordon Dennett, Jan Nel and their team on presenting an outstanding golf course to us week after week – this is our most powerful attraction as a golf club and we wish them well in their endeavours in the year ahead as they strive to sustain and improve the quality of our course. Without our sponsors we could not achieve success so may I on behalf of all members express sincere thanks to all who have supported and sponsored our club during the year – we are ever-grateful for this support and trust that our sponsors will continue to find value in their contributions to our club. Justin Roux has taken the operational side of our club management by the scruff of the neck and has done a great job since joining earlier in the year – thank you Justin for your efforts and support and keep up the good work. Thank you too to Viv Jones for his help and support as our vice-captain – it has been a pleasure working with him.
Wishing all members, sponsors and golfers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and healthy New Year – enjoy the festive season but the word “moderation” springs to mind – one does not want to end up in a situation in which shooting one’s weight is a lot easier than shooting one’s age !!!
May we enjoy another cracker of a year in 2020 on and off the course!

EPWGA CAPTAIN’S MEETING
Captain Dawn Speirs & Vice-Captain Joan Louise Manthe attended the EPWGA captain’s meeting on the 23rd of November. Michelle Niewoudt (President) went into much detail on the various events on the EP fixtures. The one request was to our members to enter the EP and Border Interprovincial tournament, it was felt that we have the players to beat Border the entries just don’t happen. So as of next year, this will be encouraged so EP can perform better. The new rules of golf were discussed as we are aligning ourselves to the rest of the world.
All our upcoming events are on our Facebook page and well-advertised. Please join us on Facebook!
KETTLEWELL TROPHY: 16TH DECEMBER
